Name: Shri Balwant Singh Rawat (07.08.1933 -16.02.2022)
Brief: Shri Balwant Singh Rawat was born in Dhari village (near Dadamandi) in Pauri Garhwal. His initial schooling was at nearby Matiali school. His father Shri Badri Singh Rawat was a farmer and also a teacher in Pali school. After doing B.Sc from Dehradun, he joined ONGC there as a Lab Assistant and rose to the post of Superintending Chemist during his service. In his tenure in ONGC, he got the opportunity to stay with his family in different stations like Cambay, Baroda, JawalaMukhi, Jammu, Sibsagar etc . He was also deputed to Seattle USA on official duty. He took voluntary retirement from ONGC on 10.10.1990. During his posting in Assam, in early 1970s, he faced severe health issues and prayed for support from their ancestral God Bhairav Nathji. Later after leaving ONGC, he worked towards the development of the Trust in the name of Bhairav Nathiji to fulfill a promise he had made to the ancestral God during his sickness in Assam. He was a simple, systematic and a disciplined person and preserved hard for the progress of the Trust which was formed in 1998 and has been running very consistently since 2001. He also donated a significant amount of his personal fund for the trust. He had a strong faith in God and believed that it is He who actually gives us everything. He was married to Sumitra Rawat who is from Batkholu village near Satpuli. They have two sons and one daughter. Daughter Sangita is married to Shri Brij Mohan Nayal. Their elder son Bhagwant Singh Rawat is married to Rajni Rawat d/o retired Principal Late Shri Balbir Singh Rawat whereas younger son Jaswant Singh Rawat is married to Anusya d/o of Late Col Kunwar Singh Rana. Their one daughter, Sandhya left for heavenly abode on 17th Oct 2021 after a tragic road accident. She was married to Satyendra Singh Negi. He is presently Principal/Director in Lakes International College, Bhimtaal (Nainital) , a post he has held since the inception of college in 2001.
Earlier he has served (i) 3 ½ years in Lawrence School in Sanawar ( Shimla) as Sr Teacher (Maths) for (ii) 10 years in Birla Vidya Mandir, Nainital as HOD ( Maths), House Master, Director of Games & Sports, Member of Staff selection and admission committee (iii) 3 years as Founder Prinicipal of The Oxford Academy, Rudrapur ( Udham Singh Nagar)college Shimla and Birla Inter college school Nainital.
He is recipient of Bharat Jyoti Award, Best Educationist award and Shikshavid award.
He has done MSc(Maths), B.Ed , M. Phil (Maths)
His native village is Kafaldi ( Mathgaon). He has got house in Sahastradhara Road, Dehradun and ancestral house in Kotdwar. He presently resides in Bhimtaal.

He is elder son of Founder Trustee and has been made trustee in Oct 2021
He retired from IRDE (a DRDO Lab in Dehradun) in Dec 2020 as Scientist-G, after joining there as Scientist –B and serving for more than 36 years.
He has done M.Sc from MS University Baroda and M. Tech (Lasers & Electro-Optics) from Institute of Armament Technology, affiliated to Pune University.
During his tenure in service, he worked on various defence projects; got opportunity to travel widely across our country, even abroad; and interact with people from defence services, industry, academia and several DRDO labs. He has also worked for development of this website. Also see his article
He is married to Rajni Rawat and they have a daughter Tanya married to Ritvik Syal in Gurugram.
He resides in Aradhana Garden Colony in Dehradun.
